AD Jogo Clinches Victory in Thrilling KLPC Triple Crown 2025 Part 1 Final

AD Jogo Clinches Victory in Thrilling KLPC Triple Crown 2025 Part 1 Final

The first instalment of the KLPC Triple Crown 2025, that ran from Thursday 17th April to Saturday 26th April, concluded in spectacular fashion, delivering a Finals Day packed full of fast-paced action, exceptional horsemanship and nail-biting finishes.

AD Jogo – CHAMPIONS of this year’s KLPC Triple Crown Part 1!
KLAP – Runners Up in the Grand Final of the KLPC Triple Crown 2025 Part 1

In a fiercely contested Grand Final, AD Jogo emerged victorious, edging out KLAP with a hard-fought 9-8 win. The match kept spectators on the edge of their seats, with momentum swinging back and forth until the very last minute. In the final minute, AD Jogo equalised the score at 8-8, and in the final seconds, KLAP gave away a foul, and it was AD Jogo’s composure under pressure that sealed their triumph and crowned them champions of Part 1 of the Triple Crown. Both teams featured incredible performances both by the two anchors – Ismael Yontob hailing from Argentina for AD Jogo, and Musa Khan from the Pakistan for KLAP – and their teams.

The Subsidiary Final proved just as exciting, with WINDHORSE overcoming a determined La Muda Familia side. In another close contest, Windhorse held their nerve to secure a 7-6.5 victory. This match was also nail-biting from start to finish. The teams were neck to neck through the match, with La Muda Familia edging to a half goal lead near the end of the fourth chukka. In the final minute of the match, La Muda Familia gave away a 60-yarder to Windhorse, and in an incredible clutch play, Amran Selamat sent a sailing, unstoppable ball through the goalposts to clinch victory for the Windhorse side.

Individual accolades highlighted standout performances across the tournament. Musa Khan, who made his debut trip to Kuala Lumpur to represent KLAP, was named Most Valuable Player, impressing with his dynamic play and tactical brilliance throughout the competition.

Meanwhile, the Best Playing Pony award went to the outstanding Amazona, owned by Hafiz Jamaluddin and played superbly by Ismael Yontob. Amazona’s speed, agility and responsiveness were key ingredients that captivated the crowd and contributed to many memorable plays.

Moiz Boys edge International All Stars to claim Malaysia Youth Polo title

Imran and Lancia had scored all the goals for their respective sides. The latter suffered a heavy knock midway through the match but was able to continue.

All Stars had also featured Ayaan Khan (India), Ibrahim Sultan (Pakistan) and Miqayl Djedovic (Croatia).

Imran, who was also named the most valuable player for the final, said it was a meaningful victory.

“It was a hard fought match, we were leading 6-3 at one point and thought we had it (won) but we let our lead slip,” said Imran.

“As the eldest brother in the team, I brought the boys together and told them that it is just a matter of how much we want to win it, we have to show character and have a good attitude.

“We fought to the end and thankfully were able to win it. I have played in many tournaments abroad before but this is the first time I have been able to win a tournament with my brothers.

“It has been an amazing experience and also an amazing tournament which has brought together players from around the world while also helping raise cancer awareness.”

Imran represented Malaysia at the 2019 Manila Sea Games and is expected to be part of next year’s squad for the Thailand Sea Games. The sport was not included during the 2021 Hanoi Sea Games and the Phnom Penh edition last year.

Moiz Boys had defeated Malaysian All Stars 7-4 while International All Stars downed Global All Stars 7-3 in the round robin stage yesterday to qualify for the final.

Global All Stars went on to defeat Malaysian All Stars 6-2 in the third-place decider.

The under-20 tournament, which was organised by the Kuala Lumpur Academy of Polo (KLAP), partnered with National Cancer Society Malaysia for its third edition this year.

Organising chairperson Natasha Mustapha is hoping to attract more players for the fourth edition next year.

“We are hoping to expand the tournament and host more teams next year because it is a good platform for them to develop their talent,” said Natasha.

“We want to see the inclusion of more players from the East Coast, I believe there are quite a few talented players from that region including Terengganu and Pahang.”

KLAP were supported by the Kuala Lumpur Polo Club, ReNIKOLA, B.GRIMM, Mamee-DoubleDecker, Zack’s Tack, Majestic Horses and World of Feng Shui for this year’s tournament.

Cancellation of the KLPC Low Goal Tournament 2

Dear Teams,

Unfortunately the Low Goal League Tournament 2 has been badly affected by rain. The field is extremely waterlogged and unplayable in its present state. The weather is something we just cannot control.

As we have visiting players here from Australia, Singapore and from Kelantan, we think the best thing to do is not to detain them any further. The committee has decided that we should cancel this tournament. Entry fees paid shall be refunded.

If indeed the weather happens to clear for this weekend, we will play club cups instead.

We apologise for the cancellation of this tournament.

Thank you,

Peter Abisheganaden
Tournament Director
